![]() John MacDonald 1949 - was born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland and whilst working in one of the city’s top advertising and design studios, he attended the renowned Glasgow School Of Art. Eventually he moved away from his home city to live in London in order to pursue a career in advertising and marketing, which he managed extremely successfully for 25 years, 14 years of which he spent in Manchester collecting international design awards, whilst employing himself as The Creative Director and Partner in an advertising agency there. In 1990, with his wife and son, John exchanged the city metropolis for the peace and quiet of rural Cumbria to at last, dedicate his time to his love of painting the British wildlife and pet portraits. As a formally trained artist, his work reflects meticulous attention to detail, executed with controlled fluency, mixed with emotions straight from his heart, and as a result of exhibitions and commissions his paintings hang in many private collections around the world. Now with the help and encouragement of carefully selected local and national galleries, John’s skilful animal paintings can be purchased in the North West of England and lately, much further afield. His son, Alistair a successful musician and daughter Dawn a RADA trained actress, have obviously inherited John’s creative genes! |
